Things Will Change Soon in Cuba

The events of the last few weeks and months bear out that Cuba’s struggles will turn into positive changes. After Maduro’s capture in Venezuela, the U.S. and Cuba have entered into talks that show the promise of improvement for the citizens of a nation that have had enough repression and unmet fundamental needs.

The announcement followed Cuba’s release of 51 prisoners amid U.S. pressure from an oil blockade causing blackouts.

Meanwhile, protests continue at night in various cities throughout the island. They have ranged from pot banging and yelling to breaking into government buildings and hauling out furniture and other items to burn in large fires in the middle of the street.

Electric blackouts continue with most places experiencing 2-3 hours of electric power in a week.

What is most amazing about all this is that in spite of all the difficulties, God’s Word continues to be proclaimed to youth through sports. In the eastern part of Cuba, 35 youngsters get physical training in Olympic wrestling as well as Bible training:

Area FCA MADEM leader Reinier and his group wrestling each other and wrestling with God’s Word

In La Habana, country FCA MADEM director Alex carries on with futbol, youth, and the Bible:

And there are many other examples of directors and volunteers taking the time to share God’s word through the medium of sports. We are extremely proud of the dedication shown by our team in Cuba and will continue to support them in this vital kingdom work.

Please join us at this critical time with prayers, resources, and personal contact and visits. Let us know how we can help you help our Cuban brothers and sisters share the gospel through sports.
