Not of This World

”These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth…But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.“

We, Christians, are not of this world. Often, we need a reminder of this. In today’s society, a “believer” many times is not much different in attitudes, ideas, hope, or worldview as a “non-believer”. Christians who truly commit their lives to Christ and his Kingdom feel uncomfortable in their worldly flesh. God has called us to be holy as he is holy, (Lev 11:44; 1 Peter 1:16) and the closer we follow God’s ways, the less concerned we will be with the world and more concerned with God’s purpose for us and those around us.
